Strong evidence of users’ needs is the launchpad for design to rocket forward. The product manager’s ability to gather evidence and communicate it allows the designer to confidently explore solutions.
My distinct privilege has been working with uncommonly astute product managers. One of them stands out in recollection from observing the relentlessness and integrity with which evidence was pursued and clarified.
Over time this has affected me to think more rigorously in the design rationale. I’m aware of how easily we fall into confirmation-bias by filling in the blanks of an incomplete picture. Some affirm however that incomplete information should not become the reason to not move forward.
