Depending on team dynamics, in my experience, Back End Software Engineers have typically shunned being involved beyond a certain point to translate new functionality into a great user experience.
Circumstances led this team member to participate more actively in the design phases, and I welcomed this as a clear advantage.
In the design discussions, the deeper knowledge of the product’s foundation allowed us to explore more possibilities. In turn, these became more specific options we could validate to ultimately implement the better idea.
