The assertion that “software is eating the world” infers how competitively a company can deliver it. From the friction between the develop and operations teams during software releases, breaking down their silos to share an awareness of each other’s challenges became an aspiration. This was and still is a cultural movement.
Within this context, I contemplated how the tempo of software development would determine the speed at which design would have to output user-ready solutions.
The emphasis on design systems and design operations turns the domain of designing software products into a more technical practice that leans towards the regiment of engineering over the intuitiveness of creativity. This dimension of design must be protected and cultivated.
